Abstract

A new conception of spectral study in scatter radiatio have been introduced in terms of ¦£Scatter fraction¦¥by Mr. NACKAMURA.
¦£Scatter fraction¦¥ was define that contribution ratio of scattered radiation to the film density.
Grids can improve the diagnostic quality of chest radiography by trapping the greater part of scattered radiation thus providing more detailed chest radiographic images. But unfortunately, Use of grid accompany increase of patient radiation dose.
In chest radiography, especially high voltage radiography w have to consider to chose the proper grid between benefit and loss itself.
In this experiment, auther got some result of characteristics about 4 grids by means of film method.
@ES the obtained result are as follows:
@EN 1. No difference of scatter fraction have been detected according to X-ray tube voltage in case of without grid, and the scatter fraction was about 60%.
2. 16: 1 grid has excellence of scatter reduction rate in high voltage chest radiography. 10: 1 linear, 10 : 1 CROSS, 10 : 1 MICRO FINE grid can reduce scatter radiation orderly.
3. The bucky factor of CROSS grid was found tout the highest among the 4 grids, on the contrary 10 : 1 linear grid was profitable to the patient exposure dose.
4. With careful consideration on the point of scatter reduction rate and bucky factor, author dare to suggest the 10 : 1 linear grid between 80 ~120 KVP range, the 16 : 1 grid between 120 ~140 KVP range. In chest radiography.
